Ginkgo BilobaGinkgo Biloba is the oldest living tree species with a 3,000 year history of medicinal use by Chinese herbalists. Ginkgo Biloba can cause a dilation of arteries, capillaries and veins and can inhibit platelet aggregation. It also has a scavenging effect on free radicals.
Traditionally Ginkgo was recommended in cases of chilblains and poor circulation and for all 'cold' conditions. It has been shown that Ginkgo Biloba can help to enhance blood flow to the peripheries of the body and may also work to increase blood flow to the brain. In fact, Ginkgo maintains and supports the circulation of the blood to all the organs of the body. It, thus, helps to enhance metabolism and boost oxygen levels in the brain. Enhanced circulation to the brain benefits both short and long term memory, it can help improve reaction time and improve mental clarity. Peripheral circulation may also benefit from using Ginkgo Biloba. Ginkgo is often recommended for those who suffer symptoms of cerebral insufficiency, such as poor concentration and memory, absentmindedness, confusion or tinnitus. Active Botanicals Ginkgo Biloba is standardised to 26- 27% ginkgo falvonglycosides, (the highest potency available) and 6-7% glycosides and bilobalide and provides an equivalent of 2000 mg of dry leaf in every capsule.
