GingerHistorically, Ginger
root has played an important role in Chinese, Indian and Japanese medicine.
More recent research has indicated that Ginger contains a number of
chemical components, the gingerols, which confer Ginger with its activity.
Ginger is commonly used as a stimulant of the peripheral circulation in cases of bad circulation, chilblains and cramp. It can also act as a diaphoretic, by increasing perspiration in feverish conditions. Studies have shown that Ginger can reduce the rate of onset of nausea. Ginger is, therefore, often taken during pregnancy for morning sickness, as well as for motion sickness. Ginger may also alleviate indigestion, colic and flatulence. A reduction in joint pain and improvement in joint movement in sufferers of rheumatoid arthritis has been documented in human studies for Ginger. Active Botanicals Ginger provides 40 mg of extract that is equivalent to 800 mg of dry rhizome, and standardised to 22 % gingerols, to guarantee potency and consistency of therapeutic effects.
