Green TeaGreen Tea, a beverage that enjoys widespread popularity in Asia, has many health benefits associated with its consumption. Apart from its diuretic stimulant properties and its use in the relief of headaches, Green Tea is also believed to be a protective agent against cancers, based on population studies.
The method of preparation of Green Tea allows the chemical components of the extract to remain similar to that of the fresh leaf. The polyphenol content of Green Tea has been shown to inhibit the formation of cancer-causing compounds in laboratory studies, adding to the weight of evidence in favour of a chemoprotective effect of Green Tea consumption. In population studies, consumption of Green Tea has also been found to be associated with a decrease in total cholesterol levels. Up to nine or more cups of tea have to be drunk on a daily basis to achieve these results. These protective effects are also available in convenient capsule form with Active Botanicals Green Tea, providing a standardised extract of Green Tea that gives an equivalent of 4800mg dry herb equivalent.
